Three outstanding students selected; awards recognize academic excellence, leadership, and service in collaboration with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

The PBS Impact Foundation has announced the inaugural recipients of its Leaders of the Future Scholarship, a new awards program that invests in high-potential students who exemplify academic promise, character, and commitment to community.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Zyan Williams — $5,000 award: Louisiana State University (LSU), Finance

  • Claire Booker — $2,500 award: The Ohio State University, History

  • Bryson Sutton — $2,500 award: Oklahoma State University, Computer Science

Created to help students start strong and stay on track, the Leaders of the Future Scholarship provides flexible support for tuition, books, and essential academic expenses. The program is presented in collaboration with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., reflecting a shared commitment to education, mentorship, and opportunity.

“These scholars represent the promise of what happens when talent meets timely support,” said Justin Gibson, Chairman of the PBS Impact Foundation. “From finance to history to computer science, their interests are diverse, but their impact will be common: strengthening communities, leading with purpose, and setting a standard for those who come after them.”

In addition to financial assistance, recipients are connected to a network of mentors and allies across the PBS Impact Foundation and Phi Beta Sigma communities. That ecosystem, built on service, leadership, and accountability, helps students navigate academic milestones, career exploration, and opportunities for giving back.

“Education is threaded in the reason why our fraternity was created,” noted Dr. Emmanuel Rowe, International Director of Education for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. “We’re proud to collaborate with the PBS Impact Foundation to recognize and support students who are already demonstrating leadership in the classroom and their communities.”

About the Recipients

Zyan Williams (LSU, Finance) plans to pursue a career in financial services and community wealth building, with an eye toward expanding access to financial literacy and entrepreneurship resources. Zyan boasts a 4.3 GPA.

Claire Booker (Ohio State, History) looks to translate her passion into work that preserves underrepresented histories and strengthens civic understanding by becoming a high school or middle school teacher. Claire has a 3.9 GPA.

Bryson Sutton (Oklahoma State, Computer Science) aims to advance in software engineering and data-driven problem solving, with goals that include building tools to improve everyday life and community services. Bryson has a 3.9 GPA.

Why It Matters

Even modest financial gaps—like a textbook bundle or a past-due balance—can derail a student’s progress. The Leaders of the Future Scholarship is designed to close those gaps quickly so students can focus on coursework, internships, and leadership opportunities that set the stage for graduation and career success.

How to Support

Donors, alumni, and friends can help grow the Leaders of the Future Scholarship and support future cohorts of students. Gifts of any size make a tangible difference and may be designated to the scholarship fund.
