Gibson Family Scholarship

The Gibson Family Scholarship is a scholarship administered by the PBS Impact Foundation, designed to support students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to service. Grounded in the belief that education is a powerful driver of opportunity and social mobility, the scholarship reflects a deep commitment to removing financial barriers and expanding access to higher education. 

Our Story

The Gibson Family Scholarship was established in 2024 to honor the enduring values that has and continues to shape the family: excellence in education, service to community, and a responsibility to create pathways for those who follow. Recognizing that talent is universal but opportunity is not, the scholarship was created as a tangible investment in students who are poised to lead and uplift others in the areas of education and/or health-related fields

Scholarship Impact

The Gibson Family Scholarship provides critical financial support that helps students focus on their academic goals while reducing the burden of educational expenses. Scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, and other education-related costs that often create obstacles to persistence and degree completion. 
Eligible students must: 

  • Be enrolled at a regionally accredited four-year college or university  

  • Undergraduate student (incoming freshmen are eligible) 

  • Black/African American descent  

  • Pursuing a degree in education and/or a health-related field

How to Support the Gibson Family Scholarship

Donors play a vital role in sustaining and growing the impact of the Gibson Family Scholarship. 
Contributions directly support students pursuing higher education and help ensure the long-term 
vitality of the fund. There are several ways to give: 

  • One-time or recurring gifts made directly to the Gibson Family Scholarship Fund 

  • Honorary or memorial gifts recognizing a loved one 

  • Donor-advised fund (DAF) distributions 

  • Planned gifts, including bequests and beneficiary designations

All contributions are stewarded by the PBS Impact Foundation and are used in accordance with 
the scholarship’s purpose. Donors receive acknowledgment and impact reporting, demonstrating 
how their generosity is helping students succeed. If you are interested in making a gift of
