In tribute to a legacy of educational excellence and public service, the Paige family has established the Dr. Rod Paige Fellowship with a $25,000 founding gift to the PBS Impact Foundation. The presentation was made during Conclave 2025 in Tampa, where the gift was presented by Dr. Paige’s wife, Stephanie Nellons-Paige, and daughter, Danielle R. Robinson, during a special presentation before supporters and members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

The fellowship will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Rod Paige, a trailblazing educator, coach, and policymaker who served as the 7th United States Secretary of Education under President George W. Bush. A proud member of Phi Beta Sigma, Dr. Paige was the first African American to lead the U.S. Department of Education, championing accountability, equity, and student achievement throughout his career.
“Dr. Paige believes deeply in the transformative power of education,” said Dr. Emmanuel Rowe, Phi Beta Sigma's International Director of Education. “This fellowship is their family’s way of continuing that mission by investing in the next generation of changemakers who will carry his legacy forward.”
The Dr. Rod Paige Fellowship will support scholarships to Black male students majoring in Education and/or Health Education. The fellowship will also cover the costs of discipline-related professional development. The PBS Impact Foundation will manage the selection process and provide mentorship and funding to fellows who embody Dr. Paige’s values and vision.

“We are proud to steward this remarkable gift and launch a fellowship that will uplift future leaders in the spirit of Dr. Paige,” said Justin Gibson, chairman of the PBS Impact Foundation. “His influence is lasting, and now, through this fellowship, his work continues.”
