PBS Impact Foundation Appoints New Board Members

The PBS Impact Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Ernie Troy Hughes and John E. White to its Board of Directors. Both leaders bring extensive experience in strategic leadership, governance, and community impact that will further strengthen the Foundation’s mission of transforming lives and communities.

John White to the Board of Directors,” said Justin Gibson, Chairman of the PBS Impact Foundation. “Each brings a wealth of experience in leadership, strategy, and service. Their insight will be invaluable as we continue to scale our impact and expand opportunities for youth, families, and communities across the country and beyond.”

About Dr. Ernie Troy Hughes

Ernie Troy Hughes, PhD is a seasoned advancement executive with more than 30 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit leadership. He currently serves as Vice President of University Advancement and External Affairs at Mississippi Valley State University, where he leads initiatives in philanthropy, organizational development, and external engagement.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hughes has held senior leadership roles at institutions including Truman State University, the Southern University System Foundation, Winona State University Foundation, and Morehouse School of Medicine. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Louisiana State University, along with an MBA from Mississippi State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.


A recognized thought leader, Dr. Hughes has participated in prestigious programs such as the Harvard Kennedy School’s Crisis Leadership in Higher Education and the Fulbright Scholar Specialist Program. His expertise in advancement strategy and organizational leadership will play a critical role in advancing the Foundation’s long-term goals.

About John E. White

Hon. John E White is a highly accomplished executive and board leader known for driving operational excellence and sustainable growth. With a distinguished career at Sodexo, he led complex, large-scale operations while delivering consistent revenue growth and strengthening client partnerships.

John brings a strong governance background, having served on the General Board of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. as International Director of Social Action. In that role, he helped secure the organization’s first federal contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, launching a multi-year public health initiative.


His leadership extends to roles such as National Chairman of Sodexo’s African American Leadership Forum and participation on the company’s Council of Belonging. John holds an MBA from Bellarmine University and a Bachelor of Science from Alcorn State University. His commitment to inclusive leadership and community impact aligns closely with the Foundation’s mission.


In 2023, John was installed as a member of the Distinguished Service Chapter, the highest honor bestowed upon a brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., who demonstrate exemplary work to the fraternity and outstanding accomplishments to the greater society at large.
